Day 4 at fashion week was striking with the amazing range of Indian wedding wear presented by Rocky S. The other designers who presented yesterday were Priyadarshini Rao, Rahul Mishra and Charu Parashar. Charu Parashers collection had a bit of Spanish influence with mainly floral prints on black Her dresses, full a-line gowns and floaty kaftan like silhouettes were quite stunning.
Rocky’s collection had something for every bride to be. It comprised of a whole range of lehengas and sarees with intricate detailing. The collection was in hues of lemon yellow with silver, royal blues with bright reds, and earthy greens and golds. The extraordinary use of net, lace, and velvet interspersed with intricate beading and zardozi work was magnificent. Bollywood actors Bipasha Basu and Madhavan took to the ramp as showstoppers for Rocky. We simply loved his collection and strongly recommend you to check it out!
Priyadarshani drew her inspiration from the seasonal traveler who borrows, picks, chooses and eventually creates her own stylish outfit. Her designs were a wonderful blend of fabrics, textures and nomadic silhouettes handcrafted to create a range of asymmetrical gowns, kurtas, jackets and coats teamed with loose pants and pleated capes to be worn over short embroidered kurtas.
The fabrics used by her were an amalgamation of fabrics from Outer Mangolia, Mainland China, Afghanistan and India. Extremely wearable and chic we loved her collection and the bright and colourful palette of sunshine yellow, red, blue, yellow and green!
The last day of the Wills India Fashion Week 2012, ended on a high note with some of the most stunning outfits from the grand finale designer JJ Valaya. A range of upcoming designers also showcased their talent on this day. JJ’s collection amazed everyone with its Turkish influences and unconventional designs.
The rather slowly unwinding colour palette was interesting as the of mother of pearl inlay with Turkish miniatures and Iznik ceramics gradually added to the ivories and blacks. The models sashayed the ramp donning tulle dresses with breeches and custom print leggings along with jackets. The jackets were very stylish with amazing detailing…the Nehru jacket totally stole the show!
Among other outfits were voluminous salwars and lovely brocade achkans with fine embroidery along with shaded saree gowns and stitched sarees with miniature prints! To top all this JJ Valaya had a lot of his celebrity friends including Rohit Bal, Suneet Varma, Sumant Jaikishan and Navin Ansal to walk the ramp for him while Kangna Ranaut was his showstopper. Kangna wore a full length white draped dress with a rich velvet red overcoat with gold detailing.
