Dubai is not just a travel favourite for many an Indian traveller; it is now also becoming an increasingly popular option for destination weddings and for good reason. Just a few short hours by flight from India, getting to Dubai is super convenient. The main draw of this fascinating country however, is the fact that it has everything you could desire for a luxurious destination wedding! And of course it is likely to be familiar and comfortable to most of your wedding guests and yet offers something new and exciting. High end shopping, a plethora of entertainment options, luxurious hotels and restaurants and more make Dubai a tiny world in itself and there’s tons to keep your guests busy and entertained.
And since we are talking about complete packages, we recently had the pleasure of visiting Atlantis – The Palm in Dubai. What an unforgettable experience! This super luxurious hotel and ocean themed resort is an amazing all-in-one option for a glamorous destination wedding and has renowned architects, designers and artists that have all had a hand in its stunning look, ambience and features. In fact when we were arrived it was wow at first sight, thanks to the Royal Towers Grand Lobby with its gorgeous interiors and views.
The Atlantis is a 5 star property that leaves you absolutely spoilt for choice. A big fat vibrant Indian wedding with multiple functions would be absolutely at home here! We had the pleasure of meeting with Ms Saida El Massmoudi, Director of Weddings & Events, and her knowledge of Indian weddings and traditions is unmatched.
It makes you certain that all your event needs will be taken care of in the best way possible! And in fact the hotel has indeed hosted many grand Indian weddings. They truly know what needs to be done and it’s done in the most luxurious ways. There are also superb package options available. Also great to note – There is a separate lobby / check-in areas (usually used for royalty and special guests only) that will be given as an exclusive check-in area for destination wedding guests. Pretty grand way to welcome all your guests!
We checked out all the possible venue options and trust us, there is literally something for everyone. The multiple venues on offer were really inspiring – from quirky to fairytale opulence, it does cater to every sort of wedding fantasy. If you have a substantial guest list and are planning on at least one huge function you could opt for the luxe Atlantis Ballroom or the beautiful Asateer Marque, both which have a capacity for 2500 or 1500 seated.
The two venues also have their own private entrance. If you have always wanted something beachside when tying the knot, the Asateer is in fact on the private beach (yup, the hotel has its own private beach!).
Great views and fab interiors for both. Champagne, romance and your own beach…we loved it! The gorgeous poolside area has a capacity for 2000, another super outdoor venue option. Want a huge view? The Royal Bridge Suite has a 180 degree view of the palms. There are also venues for more intimate weddings like the beautiful Silk and Spice Ballroom (250 capacity) and the Palm Grove (100 capacity). The Pirate Garden and beach is another great option for a smaller group and can seat up to 150 people.
What we also loved were the more out of the box wedding venue options. You can now say “I do” at the Ambassador Lagoon, an underwater aquarium that is home to not only 65000 marine animals but also plenty of magic and style… outstanding and so, so unique!
Whether you want an indoor wedding or one outdoors, with sand in your feet or glamourous chandeliers glittering above you…you will find it all. The multiple venue options and also the fact that there are 23 restaurants with world renowned chefs in-house, means that you have plenty to pick from for other wedding functions like the mehendi ceremony, cocktail, sangeet and even a bachelorette/ bachelor party. We did a lot of sampling (another perk of the job!) and there are great options for Indian as well as international cuisine.
Another feature we thought was super cool – you can make a dramatic entrance by helicopter since the hotel has a helicopter pad!
A destination wedding means that you must have enough to keep all your loved ones and guests entertained. And as we discovered there is just so much to do and explore. Apart from the restaurants, bars and lounges you have a private beach at your doorstep (1.4 km), an underground aquarium, swimming pools, tennis court, high end boutiques and more. There is lots to keep the kids busy too and they even have a special club for children. And of course the best of all Atlantis – The Palms has its very own huge waterpark, the Aquaventure Waterpark!
Make it even more special and arrange for lovely yacht rides and boat cruises for wedding guests or even snorkelling and diving lessons. You can also treat your guests to some royal pampering at the chic ShuiQui Spa. We definitely needed some deluxe down time!
Speaking of relaxing, we had a lovely time checking out the rooms and suites at the property. There are a number of guest rooms and Club as well as Signature suites. Super comfortable, luxurious with gorgeous elegant interiors, contemporary services and fittings and decadent bathrooms. The Signature Suites are absolutely stunning and ideal for the bride and groom and their close family… very, very grand. The Underwater Suites have floor to ceiling windows giving you a direct view of the Ambassador Lagoon. It felt like being in a palace under the sea!
Great wedding convenience feature – A majority of the rooms are also inter-connected, making it ideal for groups of friends and wedding guests with families.
Gorgeous venues, mouth-watering food, tons of entertainment and oodles of opulence, the Atlantis, the Palm Dubai is a glittering gift-wrapped package for an international destination wedding. We also thought the service was extremely impressive and every request big or small was adeptly and graciously handled. We sure didn’t feel like leaving and you and your guests won’t either!
