Day five of the India Bridal week 2012, opened to a roaring applause and ended with a standing ovation from all the spectators, as ace veteran designer Pallavi Jaikishan presented a breathtaking bridal collection titled “Ashrafiyan”, showcasing some of the best sarees and lehenga-cholis of the season.
The show was divided into three segments – the first two segments featuring sarees in yellows and gold, which moved on to deeper shades of red and festive colours in the second segment. The third segment featured the designer’s trademark exquisite lehengas, cholis and dupattas.
The heirloom pieces each bore witness to the designer’s immense talent as the models walked out dressed in heirloom pieces, to the tunes of classic bollywood songs creating the perfect ambience for the evening. The collection featured glamorous ensembles with studded chartreuse green French sequins and yards and yards of gossamer tulle in shades of dusty pinks and dove blues, adorned with flowers worked in French tape, silk tape and shaded resham flowers. Also part of the line was sarees with sensuous blouses, lehengas and coats. A particularly noteworthy creation were the feather light upada sarees specially commissioned in unusual and soft colours – adorned with crystals – sequence French tape.
Georgette and tulle sarees in brilliant shades of vermilions – pinks – reds and a range of rich embroidered lehenga’s were the perfect option for a wedding for the bride s well as family and friends.
A truly spectacular showcase of bridalwear that was both classic and yet contemporary, each piece an eternally stylish heirloom with Pallavi Jaikishans signature flourishes.
