Nachiket Barve’s Golden Hour collection at Lakme Fashion Week 2011 unveiled a whole range of cocktail and evening wear perfect for the contemporary Indian bride. Inspired by the colours of dusk, the outfits were flirty, young, vibrant and utterly sensuous. The palette reflected the colours of the night and sunrise including dramatic hues of red, golden, purple burgundy, plum, pink, crimson, black and scarlet.
The collection was a perfect blend of ethnic and contemporary with an array of shaded kurtas, kaftan gowns, draped dresses, saris and skirts in fabrics like chiffon, georgette, crepe, silk and tussar.
The fluid layering with minimalistic appliqué and periwinkle embroidery along with cutwork was wonderful and added the bling quotient to the outfits. The trench kurta with fractal embroidery and double breasted detail worn with shaded chiffon churidars, the sari inspired shoulder draped dress with polki detailing, the resist dyed silk tunic with sequin details and the polki embellished sequin embroidered neckpiece with folded flower tassels were part of the mystic collection ideal for evening wear.
The toned sarees were simply stunning and would be apt for a cocktail. We recommend it for Indian brides who are looking for fusion wear! The outfit which stole the show and which we completely fell in love with was the hot pink georgette lehenga with trails of sequins and folded flower tassels paired with a halter blouse – definitely recommended for a sangeet.
