We work with Troy Costa a lot and were looking forward to his show titled London Eye on day two of Lakme Fashion Week 2013. Through this show he revived the magic of the 1930’s, where he gave a luxurious yet casual feel to the whole collection.
The first half of the show was a collection inspired from a Mark Geller painting titled Merry Go Round, which was seen in his collection. The clothes were stunning thanks to the great tailoring & use of the latest design technology. On the whole, the silhouettes were relaxed, perfect for the modern man’s clothing.
The next half of the show drew influences from the league of the gentlemen of the 30’s & 40’s. Wonderfully constructed suits were showcased, which were well tailored. This marked the
return to the reinvention of classic menswear & the way of life which accompanies it.
Troy Costa’s – the Great Gatsby Men Suit Collection introduced formal jackets which were paired with smart shirts and luxury jeans. The entire collection was very understated and perfect for occasions like a cocktail party or other functions. The accessories paid respect to urban functionality. Utility bags, folders, ultra light clutches, multi-use scarves, document holders – all in polished hues, brogues, tuxedo slippers, toggled moccasins and brogue wedges completed the collection.
Colors used were refreshing consisting of Monaco blue as one of the key colors followed by poppy red, orange and yellow. Also prints like floral and paisley were seen. The complete suits were fixed to the normal sober palette of the navy blues, grays and blacks.
Providing a large range of styles for diverse occasions, Troy emphasizes throughout that men can and should be well dressed no matter what the occasion!
