India has a wealth of jewellery styles that manages to leave even the most seasoned connoisseur dazzled. With different regions specializing in differing metals, gems, designs and workmanship, the varieties ensure something for every aesthetic. Pearls are popular the world over! The rich princely history of the city of Hyderabad is evident in its lovely architecture and the famous pearls. The royal background has ensured a beautiful mélange in terms of architecture, cuisine and design. Known for its supply of rare pearls and beautiful jewellery, Hyderabad’s Patther Gatti area is one that aficionados of this pretty jewel visit. It is a whole street dedicated to pearls and pearl jewellery and is a must-visit if these lustrous orbs feature on your bridal and trousseau jewellery lust list and is also counted as one of the very famous markets worldwide.

The origin of this fascinating piece of cultural history can be traced back to the Nizams, who wore opulent diamond studded pearl jewellery and also used crushed pearls for cosmetic purposes or to adorn the princesses. The royal families’ demands encouraged the pearl merchants from across India to come here in droves to set up shop and pearl trade in Hyderabad flourished. Pearl trade and imports from countries like China and Japan continue today. Since natural pearls aren’t created here, you will find a lot of cultured pearls, largely imported. The markets in Hyderabad however have the best one can find and you can pick up loose pearls or pearl jewellery.

    Nice blog! Gems and jewelry have always been the most important in women’s life. And amongst all, pearls are soft and sensuous elements that make women look more beautiful, desirable and confident. Hyderabad, a city of pearls is an ideal place in India to make a purchase of best in quality pearls at affordable prices.
