Wedding season round the corner! The invites have started coming up and now the shopping begins! Confused about what to wear to your best friend’s wedding? Archana Kochhar, veteran designer has some tips…
Color palette
The typical maroon and gold palette is long gone! Archana suggests deeper and darker tones for wedding wear. Experiment with unconventional palettes of steel, carbon and raven and infused with the quintessential Indian palettes of rani pink and saffron!
Comfortable lehengas
Lehengas which are light in weight and much more dramatic are comfortable! The sequin detailing, borders of textured fabrics and teamed with fitted shirts and statement boleros – creates the perfect Indo-chic look. Accessorize with stacked bangles of fiber, wood, glass and kolhapuris to stay comfortable!
Anarkali reinvented
The anarkali is innovated in the form of draped bodices and digitals. Team this with crushed silk skirts for a lungi effect over a simple churidar.
Kurta and dhoti
This season the kurta gets a sensual look in the form of a drape tunic with pinching and pleated detailing. The look can then be paired with full-grown Patiala and dhoti pants which adds a soft movement to the constructed traditional silhouettes.
Tone down the bling
In your face embellishments – a definite no this season! Instead, think tone on tone embroidery, more intricate and delicate detailing – just enough to give the right amount of shine and sparkle to the entire ensemble.
