We are HUGE fans of Bibhu Mohapatra’s stunning creations! So of course, when we heard he would be showing at Lakme Fashion Week, we were super excited! This was definitely the show we were most looking forward to, especially since it was his first showing in India.
A little information for those of you who don’t know – Bibhu Mohapatra, originally from Orissa, studied at FIT, new York and is currently one of the top names in fashion internationally. He has dressed Angelina Jolie, Sienna Miller and many other Hollywood personalities.
What left us totally floored in this collection was his fabulous evening wear. Bibhu Mohapatra worked with voile, organza, chiffon, georgette, satin, lace and other fabrics in gorgeous colors from soft pastels like blush, pink, ivory and nudes to more strong tones like emerald, navy, vermillion, black and gold. Most of the garments were easy to wear and extremely flattering with soft flows and stunning drapes. The detailing and softness of the fabrics and designs was just beautiful! The designs from the collection are apt for that gown on your trousseau list – maybe for your cocktail or even the reception if you are thinking of wearing a gown, as we have seen a whole lot of brides do lately.
We found out that Bibhu Mohapatra will eventually do an Indian inspired collection. It is something he is still working on! And, even more exciting – We may possibly see a bridal line from him in the next three years! Definitely something to watch out for!
