There is something charming about Indian summers! From beaches to farms and hill stations to gardens, India has it all that’s required to host a lovely summer wedding. Here are some fun ideas on how to plan your, ‘Indian Summer Wedding’!
We suggest you incorporate the vibrant feel of the season into every little element of your wedding- right from your ‘Save the Date’ to your wedding favors. Summers in India can get very hot and harsh and choosing an indoor venue would be a more practical option, but we feel that the bright and lovely outdoors are apt for a day wedding in summer. All you need to do is, make sure you have made arrangements to beat the heat. There are plenty of ways to do that.
In case you are planning an outdoor summer wedding, we suggest, choose your venue wisely. A hill station, beach, tea estate or a vineyard would be perfect! We loved Kate Moss’s garden wedding – she looked stunning as a summer bride.
Mist fans and coolers will surely help to keep your guests comfortable. Also, think about having refreshing drinks such as Jal Jeera, Aam Panna, Sangria, Mojitos and Lemonade which will your guests cool. Keep your centerpieces interesting by adding tropical flowers to them.
You can choose to have a monochromatic or pastel palette or opt for a bright and quirky colour palette. Whatever you do make sure you incorporate some tangerine in your décor as it’s the colour for this season!
Plan a simple menu and avoid fatty and fried stuff. Include a salad bar and light barbequed food. Granitas, sorbets and a full fledged ice-cream bar are must! How about adding on a tender coconut vendor who can set up his cart at the venue and serve guests?
This is a hit at many of our weddings and we strongly recommend it in case you are planning an outdoor wedding. Also having a cold soup on your menu is a good option as opposed to a typical soup. Spice up your mocktails and cocktails with interesting garnishes.
Other interesting elements which would help to make your guests comfortable and also prove to be lovely photo props would be stocking parasols in a basket for guests to pick up, providing hand fans and setting up sheer fabric canopies to protect them from the sun.
Lastly, think about handing out custom made wedding favors such as homemade jams or flavorsome mango pickle….these would simply wow your guests!
