Yes, this has been pending – we have been so excited about Jaisalmer and Suryagarh that we kept this for last! But, hey, save the best for last right?
So, for those of you contemplating a destination wedding in Rajasthan, here is something for you! As my earlier post covered Jaisalmer in Rajasthan and this beautiful property Suryagarh!
We toured the property with the owner, Mr Manvendra and he pointed about interesting facts and stories behind every area and design element in the hotel. But what we absolutely loved, were the number of different spots available for weddings and pre wedding parties and each of them was so unique. There are no less than six outdoor spots available, which can accommodate from 50 to 1,000 guests. And, even more being constructed as I write this post! We especially loved this spot – the center portion amidst the water would be perfect for your entertainment for the evening or even your Pheras.
Apart from this the hotel has a combination of terraces, courtyards, gardens and banquet halls, which will just ensure that you never have to repeat a venue. And with the place being so gorgeous – you don’t need to go all out with your wedding décor. Simple and tasteful – and you cant go wrong!
One of the highlights of our trip was high tea in the sand dunes. So, a 20 minute drive from the hotel, and we were in the Sam dunes, private and managed by the hotel. From here, we got on to camels and after a 10-minute ride we arrived at our private tent in the middle of the desert. Here we experienced a gorgeous sunset with nothing but miles and miles of sand around us.
Unbelievable! Something that should be on your list of things to do and try!! The tent with comfortable seating and cushions along with a solo Rajasthani musician was where we settled down. Check the video of the musician below:
We were then served yummy sandwiches, samosas, cakes, cookies and more along with coffee, tea, the works! Great spot for a private dinner or even a party for a larger crowd! But yes, we are thinking a wedding in the sand dunes! We love the idea and can’t wait to do it! Plus the weather later in the year will just be perfect out there.
While we are talking about weddings, we’re thinking gifts! When we got back to our room at Suryagarh, we had a surprise! And who doesn’t love surprises, right? A pack of playing cards (perfect for those party nights!), a pillar candle (can’t go wrong with that!), a Rajasthani jewelry box and…. a camel (yes, super cute!). All of this in an exquisite Suryagarh raw silk bag and a personalised note (they have the most gorgeous stationery!). Such thoughtful gifts, don’t you think?
To sum it up, Suryagarh is one of the perfect wedding venues – out of the ordinary location, exceptional service and a one of a kind property. And we must mention in less than a year of being open – it is already a Preferred Boutique Hotel!
