Most Spectacular Indian Weddings of 2011

This is a tad bit late but we really did have some fabulous Indian weddings last year! Here are the top three Indian weddings of 2011.

Mallika Reddy and Siddharth Indukuri Wedding

Mallika Reddy, daughter of Pinky and Sanjay Reddy tied the knot to Siddharth Indukuri, son of the owner of Indu group in Hyderabad last year. Five thousand wedding invites were sent out, each of which cost Rs 5,000. The total cost of just the invites came up to 2.5 crore. That was not all…there was more to it….the invites were accompanied by super expensive gifts such as solitaires, Sabyasachi  and Satya Paul sarees along with carved idols of Lord Venkateshwara and sweets off course.

Special chartered flights had been arranged to fly guests from Mumbai and Delhi for the big day. Apart from these a few air taxis had been arranged exclusively for the Bacchans and Khans and arrangements had been made for them to take off with an hour’s notice.

Wills India Fashion Week 2012 | Day 4 & 5

Day 4 at fashion week was striking with the amazing range of Indian wedding wear presented by Rocky S. The other designers who presented yesterday were Priyadarshini Rao, Rahul Mishra and Charu Parashar. Charu Parashers collection had a bit of Spanish influence with mainly floral prints on black  Her dresses, full a-line gowns and floaty kaftan like silhouettes were quite stunning.

Rocky’s collection had something for every bride to be.  It comprised of a whole range of lehengas and sarees with intricate detailing. The collection was in hues of lemon yellow with silver, royal blues with bright reds, and earthy greens and golds. The extraordinary use of net, lace, and velvet interspersed with intricate beading and zardozi work was magnificent.  Bollywood actors Bipasha Basu and Madhavan took to the ramp as showstoppers for Rocky. We simply loved his collection and strongly recommend you to check it out!

Wills India Fashion Week 2012 | Day 3

Day 3 of the fashion week had some veteran designers showcasing their collection. On the list was Bollywood’s favourite designer Manish Malhotra apart from Kallol Datta, Abraham & Thakore and Pankaj & Nidhi.

Kallol Datta’s collection was an all black collection with interesting use of fabrics in shades of slate grey and charcoal blacks while Pankaj and Nidhi’s collection added an outburst of colours to the ramp. Their collection comprised of fitted dresses in quirky colours blended with traditional Indian weaves such as ikat prints along with kashmiri thread work.

Wills India Fashion Week 2012 | Day 2

Day 2 at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012 was lovely and rather impressive. We loved Kavita Bhartia’s collection and Nachiket Barve\’s resort wear. Rohit Bal kept it simple and his collection showcased a range of all white dresses while Gaurav Jai Gupta’s collection was kind of remarkable.
