A magnificent beginning with an equally splendid end! Designers presented an endless array of wonderfully crafted outfits in unique cuts and styles at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011. Though every designer was outstanding, we have already written on our favourite ones and here are a few more that you brides-to-be need to watch out for before you begin your wedding trousseau shopping.

The week was opened by none other than the one and only – Rohit Bal. Sheer lehengas and voluminous skirts, swirling paneled floor length coats and glittering floor skimming gowns, sherwanis and Jodhpuris were a part of his eternal collection “Shaanti”. Heavily textured fabrics and silhouettes that encompassed meters of net, organza, lace, velvet and silk were used creatively to create the magic on the ramp. The collection was a blend of traditional Indian crafts with ethnic as well as western silhouettes. The embellishments and prints were lavish in gold along with velvet and cutwork and hints of crochet and appliqué. The most outstanding outfits from his collection were the shaded multi-tiered floor length kurtas and the heavily embroidered floor length coats – very typical of his style and reflected his signature style and perfect for a sangeet!

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries Wedding!

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries finally got married on the 20th of August, 2011 after all the months of preparation that went in to put things together for this big day. It was a beautiful sunset ceremony which took place at 6.30pm amidst family and friends. Kim was dressed in a made to order Vera Wang gown with a full tulle skirt, basque waist and Chantilly lace appliqué on the bodice and epic train and carried a bouquet of white roses. Her hair was tied up and she wore a statement making jeweled headpiece with diamonds that dripped onto her forehead. Her look was completed by a pair of Guiseppe Zanotti heels.
