From the photographer:

I worked with the lovely Reshma and Mark for two days of their wedding, which was an absolute explosion of eye candy.  Their traditional ceremony held at the South Florida Museum was full of reds and golds that caught every flicker of a candle and seemed to glow as the sun set over the flower-strewn venue.  Their wedding planning was done almost entirely themselves.

Reshma and Mark were great to work with and every one of their family and friends were wonderful to be around.  I\’m a working photojournalist for magazines and newspapers, so when I shoot weddings I approach it the same way as I do for editorial gigs.  I am there just to document real moments as they happen with a creative eye that is as unique as my brides and grooms.
It doesn’t really get much more visual, and I was blessed to have the trust of Reshma and Mark on their day – although, I hate to say it, but it was really like shooting fish-in-a-barrel.  A gorgeous bride and groom was only the icing on the cake for someone that spends their days chasing color and light as I do.  Their wedding was a visual playground and I had an insanely hard time putting my camera down at the end of the night.

Here\’s to many, many years of happiness for Reshma and Mark.

Cheers!

Chip

Brides of India | Tamil Bride

\"Tamil

The traditional wedding attire for Iyengar and Iyer brides from Tamil Nadu is a 9-yard Kanjeevaram silk saree draped in madisar style. The madisar style of draping the sari is a little different and more complicated than the regular style of draping a 6- yard saree. These sarees are usually in hues of green, maroon or red with a heavy gold zari border and buta work.

The other Tamil brides usually opt for the regular 6 yard saree but in contrasting colour combinations like green and red or yellow and maroon. Tamil brides are heavily bejeweled with lot of flowers and gold jewelry. They usually adorn stunning pieces of ancestral temple jewelry studded with precious stones. The bride also wears a special kind of neckwear that is comprised of small sized gold coin pendants.

Apart from the regular bridal jewelry, brides from Tamilnadu wear unique jewelry around their waist and hair. Oddiyanam –an attractive waist belt worn to keep pallu, pleats and folds intact. The bride also wears something known as Nethiwhich is the traditional wedding jewelry for the hair usually made of pearl and gold.

The bridal hair do varies from community to community within Tamils. Like for example Iyengar and Iyer brides wear buns on one side their head- known as kondu which are decorated with flowers and gold accessories while other brides from the region, plait their hair and deck them with fresh orange and white flowers. Flowers complete the look of a traditional Tamil bride! Stay tuned for more on tamil wedding checklist and Indian wedding traditions or customs from Marry Me.

Tips on how to minimize wastage of food at Indian Weddings

\"wedding

One thing which is often neglected at most Indian weddings is the food wastage. Tons of food is often wasted unknowingly. Most couples lay stress on menu planning and food tasting while food wastage is one of the loose ends at weddings. Here are some tips which might be useful while planning the menu to minimize food wastage.

To start with, make sure you ask guests to RSVP. This will help you to give the correct number of people expected at the wedding to the caterer. Caterers keep a five to ten percent buffer. Giving the correct figure of number of guests expected is one of the major factors and will help to minimize wastage to a great extent. Also select the menu carefully. Choose a menu that is neither very elaborate nor very limited. Select a few but good dishes which most guests will enjoy. Selecting something totally exotic make be risky because if guests don’t like it, it surely will go waste. Make sure you do a tasting before finalizing the wedding menu.

\"wedding

Try and keep service staff behind the wedding buffet to serve guests. They are experienced and will serve decent portions, instead of guests helping themselves with liberal portions which are then wasted. Where ever possible, do smaller pre-platted portions of desserts so that even if a guest does not like it, there is little wastage as opposed to otherwise. They can always help themselves to a second serving if they like anything in particular.

Balance out your cocktail snacks and main course. It you keep too many starters, guests will get stuffed and will lead to wastage of the main course. Also make sure you balance the veg and non-veg items on the wedding menu if you have a mixed et of guests.

Last but not the least, always make sure there is service staff to assist kids who come alone to take food at the wedding buffet.

How To Keep Your Wedding Party Going…

\"wedding

Wedding parties are fun but can risk getting boring sometimes and may lose their pulse after a while. Here are some tips on how to keep your wedding party going and make sure its one great big party!!

Good wedding entertainment which will keep the guests involved is recommended as this would give very little scope for guests to get bored or disinterested and leave your party early. Entertainment does not just include great wedding music; you could add a lot of other fun things like a photo booth with loads of exciting props. This will not only be a hit amongst guests, but will also give you some great shots for your guest photo book. Music is extremely important. A well-selected wedding song list will surely make your guests are on their feet. You can do a combination of recorded music and a live band.

You could also designate an area to shoot video messages, where guests can record personal messages for the couple. This would be interesting, as you can go over the recorded messages leisurely after the wedding or may be on your first wedding anniversary. If your crowd is young and you are serving alcohol, you could include a few drinking games. These are fun and will surely spice up the mood of the party. If you have a mixed crowd, you could have a few stalls with a tarot card reader, a caricature artist or a bangle vendor who will make live bangles. These can keep the older crowd involved while your party goes on. You could also make a short video with details on how you and your partner met and share this with your guests. But remember to keep it short!!!

One of the most important things is the food. You must make arrangements to serve food till late as guests may feel hungry if they are dancing till late. You need not keep the whole buffet open but a couple of live counters and a good selection of cocktail snacks should do.

Last but not the least, plan the flow well. This will allow the party to go on smoothly.

Hope this tips from Marry Me\’s wedding planning team help you pick the right wedding entertainment for your wedding!

Budget Wedding Centerpieces

\"Wedding

Wedding center pieces form an important part of your wedding décor. It is not necessary that only by shelling out a lot of money you can get exclusive center pieces. Budget wedding centerpieces can be unique too! You can use your imagination and creativity and make some beautiful center pieces using easily available items. Here are some tips for making creative budget center pieces.

\"Budget

Instead of hiring expensive vases, you could use glass bottles or jars of various shapes as vases. You could paint these or decorate them with ribbons and other embellishments. Also you could use fruits like strawberries, blueberries or cherries along with home grown ferns and flowers instead of expensive flowers. Another option is to completely do away with the flowers and use candles, sand, pebbles, painted twigs or shells depending on the theme. You could even use well trimmed potted plants as center pieces. Martini glasses are also very attractive and can be used.

\"Wedding

You can add colour by using colourful crystals or pearls as fillers for vases or just coloured water made by diluting paint in it or even use clay to make artistic elements. Coloured sand is also a very good option. This will enhance the décor and make it bright and colourful. Since flowers are expensive you could make urli’s instead of vase arrangements with petals and floating candles. You can make it more fun by involving your friends and brainstorming on ideas and we are sure your center pieces will be unique and fun.

At Marry Me Wedding Planners, we personalize every little detail to make your dream day priceless. We will be glad to assist you with extraordinary concepts for your table centerpieces depending on your wedding budget.

Amsale is a known name among Hollywood stars and their work has previously been featured in Hollywood films like Katherine Heigl’s film \’27 Dresses\’ and \’My Best Friend\’s Girl’ starring Kate Hudson.

Another wedding which took place over the last week which was that of Daniel Craig the \’James Bond\’ star to Rachel Weisz, the 41-year-old British actress. It was a very intimate affair. According to media reports, the couple wanted a small, quiet wedding. It couldn’t get smaller than this. The trend among stars is changing; though some opt for big weddings with over the top décor and sumptuous budgets, most of them want smaller intimate weddings with a select group of guests who matter the most to them.
