New York Bridal Week 2012

For those planning to get hitched later this year, the New York Bridal Week has some amazing creations that you can feast your eyes on! The Spring / Summer 2013 collection (yes…a whole year in advance) featured some prominent bridal wear designers like Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Claire Pettibone, Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, and Alfred Angelo. (image 1) The show not only marked the beginning of the bridal season across the world but also provided a glimpse of some hot trends for brides this season.

The season kick started with Vera Wang’s Chinese inspired line of bridal wear called “Mei Meng” or “Beautiful Dream”.

The collection features beautiful nontraditional gowns in vibrant shades of red, in designs perfect for a Fairy tale wedding. (a good option for the unconventional and soon to be bride Angelina Jolie we think). Vera Wang wasn’t the only one to add some color to the virginal white gown. While Amsale showcased dresses in mauve, Alfred Angelo’s black and white gowns were simply amazing!

Oscar de la Renta also showcased some beautiful gowns in blue and red hues and some very pretty flower girl dresses.

Apart from his gorgeous creations, Oscar de la Renta also created ripples in the fashion world when he posted backstage shots of every bridal look complete with close ups of jewelry and garment detail on the popular networking sites Pinterest and Twitter, before it even hit the ramp! We simply love this union of technology and Fashion.

Monique Lhuillier’s collection featured white ensembles with a hint of blush pink and white Chantilly lace along with shimmering beads, sequins and appliqués.

We simply love the play of colors in Oscar de la Renta’s white floral gown with a pale blue trail and Maggi Sottero’s blush pink wedding gown!

Apart from bridal wear, the evening also saw a lot of options for evening wear, Ballgowns, cocktail dresses, bridesmaids’ and flower girl dresses.

Liberal use of colors was seen in most of the bridal wear showcased this season. With so many designers opting for colored gowns, we definitely see this as a trend for brides next year. Also in vogue, was the use of lace in bridal wear with many collections prominently featuring lace veils, bodices, shrugs, sleeves and other lacy creations. Short flirty hemlines, cap sleeves, peplum skirts are some other emerging trends for spring summer 2013. Which of the upcoming brides will be seen sporting one of these trends? Lets wait and watch.
