Anita Dongre\’s launch of her First Bridal Collection

Just back from the launch of Anita Dongre\’s first bridal collection at her Flagship store in Mumbai and we are wowed! The three story bridal boutique with the new Timeless bridal collection is absolutely beautiful! Lehengas, sarees, Indian suits and cocktail gowns for the women. The collection also has Sherwanis, Jodhpuris and silk kurtas for the men. Also housed in this store is the Grassroot collection – beautiful Indian weaves – one prettier than the other and organic too! We like!!!

 Anita believes that its not just the wedding day but the entire process of choosing the perfect bridal wear is a dream for every bride, and we totally agree! The new store has an enclosed space for the bride, with various styles and swatches for her to choose from.

The store opening was centered around Jaipur – Rajasthani performers and pretty Indian flowers in store, and a lovely Rajasthani blue pottery box that we left with. We fell in love with the Timeless collection – peaches, whites, limes, cool aqua blues – such a beautiful palette! Of course, no Indian bridal collection is complete without the pinks and reds. Our favorite was a pretty blush pink lehenga with gold Gota work.

We also loved the weaves of Benares and the Gota Patti work from Jaipur. Another great thing about most of the bridal wear by Anita Dongre is that the lehengas are not heavy at all! So while the look gorgeous, they are still light enough for the modern bride who wants to be comfortable and have fun and dance at her wedding! Perfect for the summer beach wedding!
