The India Bridal Week 2012 got even more interesting with the debut of leading fashion designer Narendra Kumar. The designer, renowned for his exquisite designs and tailoring of western wear, launched his first ever-bridal collection on day 2 of the bridal week. The designer managed to achieve a perfect balance between the western influences and traditional needs of an Indian Bride \u2013a perfect choice of bridal wear for the stylish modern bride.<\/p>\n

The designer is said to have drawn his inspiration from classic ballet traditions and the soulful classical music of esteemed Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff for his bridal couture debut, which offered an elegant, fresh approach on classic and standardized bridal styles. The show dramatically unfolded to the strains of the ballet classics with the subtle beige and nude section, then moving into the blues and the shaded orange\/yellow with touches of turquoise and ended with large vibrant doses of red.<\/p>\n

The designer created marvelous pieces in fabrics such as velvets, georgettes, soft satins and rich organza. The designer\u2019s tailoring finesse were reflected in the liberal use of appliqu\u00e9 embroidery, quilting, colour-blocking, layering and paneling of voluminous lehengas, embellished sarees, tailored jackets, elegant kurtas and opulent ball gowns. The highlight of the garments seemed to be the mix of hand painted roses in muted tones of browns combined with shimmering embroidery.<\/p>\n

The entire collection caters to modern day brides who aim to have a fun yet stylish and elegant bridal trousseau. The collection gives today\u2019s brides a variety of options other than heavy bridal sarees and lehengas. The designer expertly incorporates western styles with Indian silhouettes by replacing traditional cholis and saree blouses with structured blouses, peplum corsets and jackets paired with heavy sarees and lehengas. Famous for his men\u2019s wear, Narendra Kumar also threw in some embroidered kurtas, short jackets, wrap-neck asymmetric tunics, a satin lapel tuxedo in black velvet over an ivory kurta and sherwanis with abstract embroidery.
