So the much awaited trip to Sri Lanka finally happened and we are back. We just can\u2019t get over the pristine beaches, scenic backdrops the mouthwatering local delicacies and not to forget, the weddings! All in all it is a fabulous wedding destination!<\/p>\n

Of the many lovely days we spent there the most eventful one was when we saw seven brides, and all on one day! It was amazing to see so many brides all dressed up pretty and ready to tie the knot. Sinhalese, Tamil and Christian are the three main cultures in Sri Lanka, and to our surprise we saw at least one bride from every culture.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s interesting to see the diversity in culture within the same country; and as wedding planners <\/a>we couldn\u2019t be more pleased. We were delighted to be surrounded by so many brides\u2026 that day was a very auspicious day and so every time we turned around we spotted a new bride!<\/p>\n

The Tamil brides from Sri Lanka dress very similar to South Indian brides. The saree is draped in an Indian style and paired with ornate jewellery. Here is a close friend, Lakshika at her wedding, all dressed and looking absolutely stunning.<\/p>\n

Then there were the Sinhalese brides. The sarees they wore was very elegant and unique and rich. We loved the way the traditional gold saree with thread work, sequin detailing and pearl embellishments was paired with chic puff sleeved blouse.<\/p>\n

And not to forget the fanfare and entertainment that revolves around traditional Sri Lankan weddings\u2026.we got a glimpse of it all! The Sri Lankan actress we spoke about, Chethana Shamilka had a traditional style wedding with the bridal party all dressed in traditional outfits.<\/p>\n

Coming to the Catholic Sri Lankan brides\u2026we saw a few of them too! The Catholic brides we saw were dressed in white gowns or bright coloured gowns and looked very pretty. The popular colours of the season seemed to be pink and purple, as most brides were wearing gowns in these colours.<\/p>\n

We love weddings and what better way to enjoy, than to be surrounded by so many pretty brides\u2026 Still can\u2019t get over it\u2026seven brides and all on one day\u2026wow!<\/p>\n
