Our last destination in Sri Lanka was Negombo, a little city just north of Colombo. If you are planning a quick trip to Sri Lanka, then Negombo is a must visit \u2013 just a 15 minute drive from Colombo airport. The place reminded us of Goa, lots of restaurants and bars lining the beach road and lot of beautiful churches too!<\/p>\n

\u00a0Our hotel, Jetwing Blue was the first hotel in the Jetwing group \u2013 built in 1970. Our room overlooking the pool was probably one of the most spacious rooms we have experienced (apart from suites). The interiors were modern yet resort like.<\/p>\n

Here is what we particularly loved at this hotel:<\/p>\n

The food deserves a special mention. We were on a full board (where all meals were included at the hotel). Most often, meals on a full board tend to be quite average with some meals better (or not) than others. We stayed at Jetwing Blue for three days and every single meal was outstanding.<\/p>\n

\\\"Nasi<\/a><\/p>\n

Yes! From the breakfast buffet to the set dinner to the Sunday lunch buffet, all outstanding! The succulent seafood cooked to perfection, the Nasi Goreng (our perennial favourite!) and even the deserts \u2013 all made us happy! Most meals that we enjoyed were served in \u2018The Kitchen\u2019 an all day dining restaurant with an open kitchen.<\/p>\n

The service at the hotel deserves a special mention too! All the staff were extremely attentive and hard working. Especially attentive and always smiling was Amila, who was working at the restaurant. He was there tending to us for every meal from breakfast to dinner and always with a smile. He took the trouble to get us information on the dishes, prepare special meals (according to dietary requirements) and chat with us about Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n

Our favourite part of the hotel \u2013 the relaxing chairs in the pool! How cool is this!! We love nothing more than lounging by the pool, so what better than lounging on sun chairs in the pool. And, just a quick step out from the pool and voila, you are on the beach! Yes, the beach is right here, a little rough during the time we spent here but great to sit at the restaurant with the waves not too far away.<\/p>\n

\\\"Relax<\/a><\/p>\n

For a quick beach getaway, Negombo is perfect \u2013 such a short drive from the airport. Lovely for a honeymoon too \u2013 Jetwings has a total of 5 hotels in Negombo, so you have a few to choose from. Also very interesting was Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions. Here you can enjoy a private villa with specialized ayurvedic treatments and yoga among others.<\/p>\n

The venue options for an Indian wedding here in Negombo are interesting. The most popular of course is the beach, where you could opt to have your wedding ceremony, an intimate dinner or even a Sangeet or Mehendi. The garden adjoining the beach is another stunning location. We loved the coconut trees around giving it even more character.<\/p>\n

And of course, if you would like to have an event indoors, there is always the Ballroom \u2013 a simple yet stylish ballroom with elegant wooden interiors. The great part is that this hotel can easily accommodate larger numbers at its venues and should you wish to have a big fat Indian wedding in Sri Lanka with a big fat guestlist, there are other Jetwing hotel properties adjoining Jetwing Blue.<\/p>\n
