We were sad to leave Colombo, we really were! But we had our fill of the city: shopping, eating and more. And our next stop seemed enticing too! So a couple of hours later and there we were in Galle.<\/p>\n

Jetwing is one of Sri Lanka\u2019s leading hotel groups \u2013 and we decided to stay at two of their properties. Our first visit, Jetwing Lighthouse in Galle is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Designed by the famous architect, Geoffrey Bawa, in one word, the property is serene. As mentioned in Bawa\u2019s book \u201cBawa \u2013 The Complete Works\u201d, \u2018the architecture itself is muted, but offers subtle memories of Moorish palaces, ocean liners, ancient manor houses and colonial villas.\u2019<\/p>\n

The entrance to the property was interesting with a very unique staircase, sculpted in beaten and welded copper and bronze. But the best part of this property is definitely the view.<\/p>\n

Our check in was done while seated in this spectacular extension of the all day restaurant. What better than to be greeted with a chilled glass of coconut juice and the view of the waves lashing against the rocks.<\/p>\n

But the view from our room was just as spectacular. We had out own little walkout garden, which was perfect for a newspaper read and tea in the morning. The room was perfect \u2013 spacious and great aesthetics; we loved the mix of modern and tradition. And the best part? Falling asleep (and waking up!) to the sound of the waves. This would be nice everyday!!<\/p>\n

The hotel has a few dining options: The Cardamom Caf\u00e9 for all day dining with a breathtaking view, Cinnamon Room for a fine dining experience, Anchor Bar & Grill for snacks and drinks all day and Coats of Arms Bar for a drink while watching the sunset.<\/p>\n

Jetwing Lighthouse has an easy access point to the beach. For those who like to spend the day by the pool, there are two pools to choose from! The Spa is housed a little away from the main building with simple massage therapies to more specialized many day programmes.<\/p>\n

\u00a0What we loved about the hotel is their commitment to minimizing environmental damage. The hotel practices energy and water conservation, air quality, pollution and waste management and reduction, use of environmental friendly resources and recycling. A feel good, do good hotel!<\/p>\n

The hotel is great for a relaxing getaway and of course, perfect for a honeymoon<\/a>. This serene and secluded property just lets you be! Relax by the pool, enjoy a private dinner in this secluded spot or take a walk on the beach. No one will disturb you, except may be the cute little squirrels. Really, they are super cute and everywhere!!<\/p>\n

What about weddings? From a small intimate destination wedding<\/a> to a larger big fat celebration \u2013 Jetwing Lighthouse is perfect! In terms of venues, the choices are endless: gardens, beach, verandah, poolside, ballroom\u2026 this property has it all!<\/p>\n
