The highlight of our stay in Colombo was our hotel! Yes, believe it or not, but this hotel is the reason we would love to come back to Colombo and next time stay for longer. We are talking about the private and exclusive Casa Colombo. The 12 suites and amenities are modern, hip and chic housed in a 200 year old restored Moorish mansion.<\/p>\n

On entering this hotel, it looks stunning, but nothing can prepare you for what comes next! Our suite was so gorgeous; we wanted to stay in all day. We were in the Corporate Suite, which we hear is the biggest among the 12 suites in the hotel.<\/p>\n

Each suite is distinctly different, ranging from 500 square feet to 1000 square feet. The interiors of the mansion were fabulously restored \u2013 the tiled flooring, the wooden doors and the detailed ceiling. The furniture on the other hand was modern and retro. And especially outstanding was the electronics and intelligent lighting that could be controlled from the bedside itself. The suite was equipped with an iPod, a laptop, a large flat screen TV and even a pre programmed music system that lets you choose a genre and simply turn the dial to play! How cool is that?<\/p>\n

Something else we loved – the telephones!! So the bedside table had these cool retro phones, the living area had the funky red lip phone and the toilet had the pink lit up phone.<\/p>\n

The copper bathtub was beautiful in the bedroom itself, the separate shower was huge and the bathroom sinks \u2013 2 separate washbasins in an out area.<\/p>\n

Apart from this, all suites at Casa Colombo come with your own private butler or domo. We had Arun who tended to us on our stay and was attentive to every need and requirement. It was like he never slept! We could definitely get used to that!<\/p>\n

Given our affinity to the colour pink, we loved the pink swimming pool. This funky pool had elephants and floating baubles in it and glass sun beds to lounge on.<\/p>\n

Also outstanding was the food! We enjoyed our breakfasts and a couple of other meals at the hotel. Everything was done to perfection and amazingly reasonably priced too. We definitely had the best Sri Lankan prawn curry in Colombo right here at Casa Colombo.<\/p>\n

So you decide on Sri Lanka as your honeymoon destination<\/a> and fly into Colombo. Maybe you are not too excited about Colombo \u2013 it\u2019s a city after all right? Well fret not, Casa Colombo will change that. This boutique hotel is an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the streets. It is perfectly located in Colombo 3, which is quite central and only a short walk or a maximum of a 15 minute drive to the most popular places<\/a>. This hotel is the perfect hotel for a honeymoon or just because\u2026. In fact, it was nominated as Sri Lanka\u2019s leading business hotel at the World Travel Awards.<\/p>\n

Of course, we are always thinking weddings! Casa Colombo is perfect for an intimate wedding with a few different venue options \u2013 cocktails by the pink pool, the wedding ceremony <\/a>out the front on the sandy area and dinner served in the restaurant and verandah area. There is also work in progress \u2013 the glass bar. That would make another stunning venue!<\/p>\n
