But bad choice of music can play a major role in ruining that dream. When it comes to music for the wedding reception most couples ask the DJ to spin their favourite tracks end-to-end without even discussing likes and dislikes. Your wedding day is for you to dance to songs that have a special meaning for you as a couple. You don’t want your guests left discontented with the shoddy songs they were forced to hear while enjoying a beautiful reception. We suggest you make a list of MUST PLAY as well as a list of DO NOT PLAY songs and give this to your DJ. In order to help you with putting together your playlist, we’ve come up with a list of 10 english songs that would make it to our DO NOT PLAY list. A list of Hindi songs will follow.

1. Birdie Dance

Also known as the Chicken Dance, it falls into the cheesy group dance category, which definitely isn’t a wedding song. Group dancing at a wedding like a bunch of high school kids is passé. It’s more enjoyable and appropriate if played at your four year old kid’s birthday bash.

2. As Long As You Love Me – Backstreet Boys

‘I don’t care who you are, where you’re from, what you did as long as you love me’ this song is played at almost every wedding happening around the globe, though the lyrics and music are very lovable it’s time to move over the cliché love songs and add a little uniqueness to your playlist.

3. My Heart Will Go On – Celine Dione

She meant this song for her dead boyfriend and not your very much alive hubby! It’s a sad heart breaking song though very sweet but not for your joyful wedding celebration. Hence leave this sorrowful Titanic song off your reception playlist.

4. I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor

The song’s lyrics describe the narrator’s confidence after a devastating breakup. If you want to show your ex that you’ve moved on and how, your wedding is not the place for it!

5. Achy Breaky Heart – Billy Ray Cyrus

Obvious from the title, it’s a song about bitter-sweet heartbreak and why just WHY would you want this playing at your wedding?

6. Who Let The Dogs Out – Baha Men

This song from the year 2000 is tagged as one of the most annoying songs ever by a leading music magazine. Though a very popular fun party song, there is no reason you should play this song at your wedding! Why should you put good taste aside just to get your guests grooving?

7. I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas

Definitely a fun song, but after three years of being played at every club, party and wedding even Fergie would agree that it’s time to give it a break. It’s your wedding, you don’t need a quirky song to say how good you feel about the night.

8. If You Wanna Be Happy – Jimmy Soul

There’s no way a bride would be happy to hear this song at her wedding. Even though it’s fun and catchy to dance to, but this song could get you into major trouble with the bride’s family!

9. Gold Digger – Kanye West

This Kanye West track will have your wife giving you the eyeballs. Are you trying to say that she’s a gold digger?! You don’t want to have your first fight at your wedding reception. It’ll cost you BIGTIME!

10.
