The exhibition features different styles of bridal gowns, trains, shoes and other accessories which created quite a stir in those days. Depnsing on the style and design and era, the exhibits are categorized as traditional, modern, glamorous and colorful brides. The collection features 47 beautifully preserved gowns, worn in the past 200 years &#8211; the oldest being a green damask dress from 1740. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Among the collection displayed, was a simple and sophisticated, 1934 wedding dress, designed by Charles James and worn by Baba\u00a0Beaton sister of Cecil Beaton, the famous photographer. Another notable dress was the one worn by English socialite Margaret Whigham\\&#8217;s in 1933 for her London wedding to the\u00a0Irish American, Charles Sweeny. She wore a draped clingy bell-sleeved, cream satin gown, embellished with star-like embroidered flowers and an elegant four-meter train, put together by the British couturier, Norman Hartnell.<\/p>\n<p>Colored wedding dresses became a huge style statement with star Dita Von Teese\u2019s striking purple pink voluminous ball gown designed by British designer, Vivienne Westwood in 2005. A funky custom made pink and white silk faille wedding dress designed by John Galliano and worn by Rock star Gwen Stefani and a red, couture wedding gown made by Zac Posen were among the few colored gown displayed at the art gallery.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition clearly reflects the changing attitude of women through the conservative style of the 1960s and \\&#8217;70s, to the trend of modern, off-the-rack wedding dresses in mid -1980\u2019s.
