Tilak is generally conducted in the day time and is groom centric. The bride and her mother are not allowed attendance. There are variations to this ritual all over India based on regional differences and caste as well. In general, Tilak is normally held at the grooms\u2019 residence. This thaali is used to perform Aarti on a head covered groom. On completion of the Aarti, the brides father or then brother applies tilak on the grooms forehead. The ceremony symbolized the brides fathers acceptance of the grooms hand for his daughter.
