Work Your Wedding Theme Into Your Place Settings

Place setting refers to the way the cutlery and crockery is laid out on the table for a function. Place settings can enhance your wedding décor and make it look really pretty. Here are some ideas on how to select and put together your place setting depending on your wedding / function theme.  You can either opt for a formal or an informal style, depending on your preference and theme. The cutlery and crockery is laid on the table based on the order of use.

The formal setting comprises of a range of cutlery and crockery very precisely placed course wise along with the appropriate glassware. The informal seating has lesser cutlery and crockery and does not necessarily follow all rules.

The key to create customized place settings in sync with your theme is, to select or shortlist elements which may go with your theme. Like for example, for a beach wedding, you may surely want to include shells, earthy hues some blue or white crockery etc. Once you know what elements you want to include, all you have to decide is how and where to place them.

For a vintage themed reception, we would suggest going for hand painted crockery and ornate cutlery. The hues can be mostly pastel with a dash of some bright colours. On the whole, a vintage place setting perfectly strikes balance between formal and informal place settings. This kind of setting is perfect for a garden wedding.

A royal place setting is very formal with all the fanfare. The flatware and tableware is meticulously laid out with eye for detail. The crockery usually comprises of colours such as royal blue, maroon or off-white with gold designs carved and custom made to the choice of the guest. You can even have gold plated show plates with showy napkin rings.

Beach wedding place settings can be very casual. The colour palette can be beachy with sea blue and white. A mother of pearl show plate is a great idea for a beach wedding. For a beach wedding, you need not follow the rules of laying flatware and tableware. It’s very casual so you can just have your all purpose cutlery laid out and few additional ones if required. Elements like star fish, shells pearls will enhance the décor.

For a rustic wedding, keep the palette to neutral and use earthenware instead of glass. This is again a very casual style of wedding and therefore you need not lay the table with a range of cutlery and crockery.

If you are having a green wedding, keep your cutlery and crockery minimalistic and use recycled objects. Also for napkins you can keep recycled paper napkins instead of cloth ones as this can help save water. Elements like jute will add a softer touch to the whole setting.

So go out and make your tables look absolutely stunning. Remember, there is no look book….you can create your own with the things you love!
