A magnificent beginning with an equally splendid end! Designers presented an endless array of wonderfully crafted outfits in unique cuts and styles at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011. Though every designer was outstanding, we have already written on our favourite ones and here are a few more that you brides-to-be need to watch out for before you begin your wedding trousseau shopping.

The week was opened by none other than the one and only – Rohit Bal. Sheer lehengas and voluminous skirts, swirling paneled floor length coats and glittering floor skimming gowns, sherwanis and Jodhpuris were a part of his eternal collection “Shaanti”. Heavily textured fabrics and silhouettes that encompassed meters of net, organza, lace, velvet and silk were used creatively to create the magic on the ramp. The collection was a blend of traditional Indian crafts with ethnic as well as western silhouettes. The embellishments and prints were lavish in gold along with velvet and cutwork and hints of crochet and appliqué. The most outstanding outfits from his collection were the shaded multi-tiered floor length kurtas and the heavily embroidered floor length coats – very typical of his style and reflected his signature style and perfect for a sangeet!

Flirty, fun and feminine her collection showcased an array of fusion outfits with eye-catching patterns which were beautifully merged with Indian motifs on fabrics such as raw silk, silk satin, georgette, cotton and crepe.  A blend of traditional and glamour her outfits were in vibrant colours such as red, pink, orange, leaf green and royal blue. We think that her heavily embroidered minis and ornate lehengas with dazzling cholis are apt for a mehendi function.

She presented an absolutely stunning and sensational range in Indian wear “Bridal Fantasy” for the gen-next bride. Seductively flowing sheer anarkalis, kalidar kurtas, ornate blouses and glittering lehengas in pastle shades of cream, ivory, nude, blush melon, apricot, champagne, ash green and sea blue were a part of her collection.

She teamed new age metallic fabrics with soft pretty pastels and embellished them with the richness of mukaish, filigree, resham and zardozi work. Her collection will surely appeal to the unconventional bride.

Needless to say this veteran designer creates nothing but the best! Sarees with ornate borders, patilal salwars, cholis and dupattas were a part of his collection. The models walked the ramp in colour co-ordinated groups which showcased similar garments which were in perfect harmony and style – a fabulous show! He had something for everyone – men, women and kids. The styles were inspired by the North West Province and combined with Kashmiri embroidery. Not too over the top, this range is perfect for your wedding trousseau.

He displayed his collection – “The Speed of Sound”. The theme for the collection was inspired by DHL the global market leader in logistics. Use of folds, pleats and drapes was used to interpret the concept.

The creation was lovely with a varied range of outfits including minis, gowns and jackets crafted in fabrics such as sheer chiffon, lush taffeta, organza, crepe, acrylic, PVC and leather. The colour palette predominantly comprised of the DHL colours – Black, grey, nude and yellow. The gowns were something we totally fell in love with. If you are looking for a gown for your cocktail party, he is the one!

Rich fabrics such as lace, chiffon, silk, net and velvet. He had something for grooms too! The week was drawn to close by none other than Kareena Kapoor who happens to be Manish’s muse!
